Asset allocation
The process whereby the diversification inherent in a portfolio of asset classes is designed for a client. It is often called strategic asset allocation because the portfolio design aims to achieve some absolute return target over a longish investment period – typically 5 years.
Lord North Street believes that asset allocation is an even more important driver of investment returns than manager selection, and the most important determinant of portfolio volatility.
