Private wealth manager
Even though this term is relevant and appropriate to an MFO and PIO, historically it has been used in the context of the large banks as a means to differentiate their private banking divisions from the institutional or broking divisions. Although each private wealth manager differs in the services offered; there is a tendency to accept a greater number of clients and perhaps lower asset minimums and the basis for remuneration to be linked to the asset class i.e. cash paying less and equities or hedge funds more.
Lord North Street Limited focuses on a small number of very wealthy clients and is totally independent of any bank or provider of product. Its fees are based upon the value of the total portfolio and are not linked to or biased by the different asset classes invested in.
